Download links design pattern: Canada.ca design system
Download links are used for referencing and linking to non-HTML files on Canada.ca web pages.
When to use this pattern
- Only use this pattern for non-HTML files like PDF s and Excel documents that already have an HTML equivalent
- Do not use this pattern when linking to HTML pages
How to use this pattern
- Include a thumbnail or generic image indicating that this link is to a non-HTML resource
- Include the name of the non-HTML file as a text link
- Include file type and file size information in parentheses
- Do not place the download links block in line with text blocks, for example within a paragraph; instead, place it in between text blocks
- The default alignment is flush left
